OmaLompakko and deductible amount

Deductible Amount

For benefits offered through the SmartumPlus service, the employer can choose to charge a deductible amount to employees if desired.

The deductible is typically charged when the employer provides a lunch benefit, but the employer may also require employees to pay a deductible for other employee benefits offered through the SmartumPlus service, such as sports and cultural benefits.

However, charging a deductible should be carefully considered, as it may negatively affect the attractiveness of using sports, cultural, and massage benefits.

OmaLompakko

Charging the deductible is easily managed through the OmaLompakko feature in the SmartumPay app, which you can activate in the SmartumPlus service. SmartumPay is a mobile app for users of Smartum’s electronic employee benefits. With OmaLompakko, employees pay the deductible themselves to access their benefits.

Here’s how to activate OmaLompakko:

  1. On the deductible definition card, select "Yes" and enter the percentage of the deductible to be charged to the employee.
  2. Activate OmaLompakko by sliding the selection button to the right.

Here’s how OmaLompakko works:

  • The employee loads the desired amount (minimum €0.01, maximum value determined by the offered benefit) into OmaLompakko in the SmartumPay app, after which the service releases the offered benefit for the employee’s use.
  • The employee can load money into OmaLompakko in one or more transactions. The service automatically deducts the deductible amount defined by the employer with each transaction.
  • If there is insufficient money in OmaLompakko to cover the deductible, the benefit cannot be used, and the employee will receive a prompt in the app to add money to OmaLompakko.

Example: The employer-defined deductible is 50% of the offered benefit. The service to be purchased costs €20. The employee’s OmaLompakko must have at least half (i.e., €10) of the service’s value loaded.

Funds transferred to OmaLompakko are not refundable to the employee’s account, as the transferred money is a requirement for the employee to access the benefits provided by the employer.

Funds unsuccessfully transferred to OmaLompakko due to a technical malfunction or other system error will be refunded to the employee. If this occurs, the employee can contact our customer service at asiakaspalvelu@smartum.fi.
