Smartum’s lunch benefit is a personal benefit like other benefit types, and it can only be used for your own meals. You can pay for lunch either entirely or partially with electronic lunch balance via the SmartumPay app or with a voucher, and pay the rest with another payment method if needed.
When paying with the SmartumPay mobile app, the minimum and maximum amounts are set according to the Finnish Tax Administration’s fringe benefit decision. In 2024, the minimum payment is €8.50 and the maximum payment is €13.50.
If the meal costs more than the maximum amount (€13.50), the excess amount can be paid with another payment method, such as a debit card. If the Smartum account has less than the minimum amount remaining, the employee cannot use the SmartumPay app to pay for their meal. Once additional funds are loaded onto the Smartum account, the remaining balance will be available for use again.
With Smartum’s lunch benefit, you can pay at thousands of restaurants that are part of the Smartum lunch network. You can explore the lunch network through our location search. In the “Payment Options” section, you can see whether the restaurant accepts Smartum lunch vouchers, SmartumPay mobile payments, or both of these payment options.
